What Is Regenerative Medicine?

Regenerative medicine is a revolutionary field that focuses on the help of repairing and regenerating human cells, tissues, or organs to restore normal function. Rather than simply managing symptoms, it aims to treat the root cause of disease or injury — using the body’s own natural processes.

By stimulating healing at the cellular level, regenerative therapies offer powerful alternatives to traditional surgeries and long-term medications.

How Does It Work?

Regenerative medicine uses advanced technologies and biological therapies — including stem cells, growth factors, and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) — to encourage the body to heal damaged tissues more efficiently.

Some therapies help regrow cartilage, tendons, and other soft tissues. Others work by reducing inflammation and accelerating your body’s natural healing response.

Key Therapies in Regenerative Medicine

🧬 Stem Cell Therapy

Uses your own or donor-derived stem cells to rebuild damaged tissues and reduce inflammation.

💉 Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)

Concentrated platelets from your blood are re-injected to stimulate healing of soft tissue and joints.

🔬 Exosome Therapy

A newer option using cell-derived messengers that help regulate repair and immune responses.

Conditions That May Benefit

  • Joint inflammation and joint degeneration
  • Tendon and ligament injuries
  • Non-healing wounds
  • Sports injuries
  • Autoimmune and inflammatory conditions

Many of these treatments are especially appealing to patients looking to avoid surgery or reduce dependence on medications.

What to Expect

Your regenerative journey begins with a full medical evaluation to see if you may benefit from Regenerative medicine.

In preparation for the procedure, it is essential to maintain a healthy lifestyle. It is recommended to stop smoking and alcohol preferably 4 weeks before the procedure.

The Procedure itself is done in-office with no need for anesthesia or requirement of downtime. It typically takes about an hour to complete.

How to prepare for the procedure?

Stop NSAIDs 7 days before (or at least 2 days before) the stem cell injection and continue to avoid them for at least 4 weeks afterward. This time frame is designed to allow the body to heal without interference from anti-inflammatory medications.

When Will I see Results?

Some patients may notice mild improvements in pain and mobility within 3-6 weeks. Significant changes typically occur between 3-6 months.

Is Regenerative Medicine Right for You?

Not every patient is a candidate — but if you’re dealing with chronic pain, injury, or degenerative disease, regenerative medicine could offer a new path to healing. Schedule a consultation to explore your options.

Cost of Stem Cell Injections

The cost of stem cell injections can vary widely, ranging from a few thousand to tens of thousands of dollars. Factors influencing the price include the type of stem cells used (autologous or allogeneic), the amount and type of joint injected.

Types of Stem Cells

Autologous stem cells (taken from the patient's own body) are generally less expensive than allogeneic stem cells (taken from a donor).

At Wellness Center of Cleveland, we use Mesenchymal stem cells from donated umbilical cords which offer the highest concentration of stem cells. By using allogeneic stem cells, you don’t have to go under sedation to extract your own stem cells that can’t be quantified.

Why choose the Wellness Center of Cleveland?

Dr Elsheikh combines science driven treatments with a patient-first philosophy. He believes in a personalized wellness approach focusing on addressing the problem that is causing pain rather than masking it.

To ensure safety and efficacy, Dr Elsheikh utilizes ultrasound for guided joint injection.

Frequently Asked Questions

We use Mesenchymal stem cells from donated umbilical cords from scheduled c-sections. The women donating their umbilical cords are rigorously screened to ensure we are using the most active and viable umbilical cord stem cells. We receive our stem cells from an FDA registered facility.

Umbilical cord stem cells do not have MHC 2 markers. Therefore, they do not spark a rejection reaction at all in a non-related recipient.

Some patients may experience mild flu-like symptoms. Inflammation is a good thing.

Stem cell therapy is not FDA approved, it is FDA regulated. At this point, it is considered an experimental therapy.

No. It is because stem cell therapy is often considered experimental or investigational by insurance providers

We offer different financial options. Please visit our financial options page for more information. https://wellnesscentercleveland.com/resources/financing/

Stem Cell Therapy is considered an experimental therapy and there is no guarantee. There are no 100% guarantees in medicine! However, compared to many traditional therapies it is a much better option with less side effects.
